Carnival Spirit security harrassess accident victims: Recently, low tide made the crew gangway in the port of Manzanillo dangerously low. In seperate incidents, two crewmembers banged their heads walking in or out of the ship. One was knocked down to the ground, the other was bleeding. Following procedure, they reported it to ship security. Rather than sympathize or think intelligently towards a solution of safety, they instead (according to both of them) grilled them incessantly about the details of the accident, and accused them of being at fault. Asking if they were drunk or on drugs (no on both) they then seperated them and, according to both of them, "barked at them" as if they were criminals. They were sent away and to this day have received no information about their request to make the gangway safer. In other ports the gangways are sometimes off of a higher deck of the ship and this was suggested. We have been back to Manzanillo two times since this incident, however, and the gangway is the same...still low, and still the safety of the crew members entirely vulnerable to the unpredictable level of the tide. Carnival cares more of whatever inconvenience merging the gangways (passangers and crews) might cause than the safety of it's underpayed employees, apparantly.
